Front row at the Ginger & Smart show was my first foray into Australian Fashion Week. Loved the nude leather mini dress and glazed organza trench coat. Some great LBDs – so Barbie Basics, so on trend! The full show can be seen here.

Kirstie Clements, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Australia, kindly invited me along to the Vogue party on Monday night, to celebrate the arrival of Tim Blanks and also launch the June issue of Australian Vogue featuring hot new Australian face, Samantha Harris.

  

Everyone I've met so far has been super friendly and there is a lot of buzz surrounding the Barbie Basics launch party Tuesday. Naturally, Barbie has a lot of fans in Australia...

 
 

Guest Post: Designer Robert Best Hits Australian Fashion Week Pt. 1!

I was super excited to arrive in Sydney last Sunday to help launch the new range of Barbie Basics as part of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week! As soon as I landed I picked up an issue of Grazia Magazine that had the most adorable Barbie Basics fashion spread. You can see all the behind the scenes action here.

Also while I was down under I attended a few shows to check out the local designers and see what Barbie may like for her new Spring & Summer wardrobe.

First stop for the week was the MAC RAFW launch party. I was completely wowed by the paper couture dresses made for the event by N.Y. designer, Zaldy Goco. I can totally see Barbie wearing a paper dress! My personal favorite was a meringue-like confection, so good you could have eaten it...

Also it was wonderful to bump into Kirstie Clements, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Australia, whom I met while I was in town last year at the Barbie Forever exhibition in Melbourne. Kirstie introduced me to internationally renowned blogger Tim Blanks from style.com so I invited him along to the May 4th Barbie Basics launch.

 

Designer Robert Best to Guest Blog about Rosemount Australian Fashion Week!

Recognize him, dolls?  Robert Best is a fab face to remember. Formerly a contestant on “Project Runway” (one of my fave shows ever!), Robert is an amazing designer who made quite a splash this year by giving me one amazing Mad Men makeover!

One of my BFD’s (best fashion designers) for years, he’s also given me my fabulous Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe looks, and has even worked with fashion luminaries like Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg and Vera Wang.  I am a huge fan of his simple yet show-stopping designs, defined by his design mantra of good fabrics, classic lines and feminine details with a touch of whimsy us girls love.

Since I’ve been busy working with Christian Louboutin on my Anemone gown to wear to the Cannes Festival next week, I asked Robert to keep me updated on all the fiercest looks and parties happening Down Under at Rosemount Australian Fashion Week!

From what I’ve heard, Robert’s been having a doll-ightful time. And we fashion-loving dolls know what a spectacular event it was this year… the much-anticipated Samantha Harris, the unveiling of Stefano Canturi’s look for moi and the fresh launch of Jayson Brunsdon’s beachy-yet-glamorous designs!

My Growing Resume... Computer Engineer and Beyond!

Earlier this year when I asked for all my favorite dolls to help choose my next career, I was overwhelmed by the incredible support I received!  My two new careers, Computer Engineer and News Anchor, have been added onto my growing resume. 

I know I am one lucky doll to have had the opportunity to explore such a wide variety of careers.  Can you even imagine how honored I was when The Wall Street Journal ran an article on my professional journey?

I'm totally busy prepping for my two new fantastic careers, but in the meantime, I wanted to share this great video The Wall Street Journal put together for the article.  I love hearing from girls of all ages how they’ve been inspired… Enjoy and let me know what you think!

Countdown to B-Day!
