Guest Post: Designer Justin Giunta Talks Barbie Basics

Hi All,

Justin Giunta here.  Recently, Barbie asked me to join a group of 11 other CFDA designers to create a my own unique take on the iconic little black dress.  I love making custom designs for my fashionable clients and was thrilled to join the other influential designers in creating a one-of-a-kind look for the ultimate fashion icon: Barbie.

My signature style draws parallels between art history and modern design, ultimately creating a twist on the classic.  My LBD creation for Barbie showcases just that: a timeless black dress with clean lines, accessorized with a contemporary statement necklace.  Featuring ropes of decadent pearls, metal chains and glitzy florals, this high impact look is brought down to earth through the strength and confidence that Barbie portrays.

 

Joining me in the quest to create individually styled pieces of art are Isaac Mizrahi, Betsey Johnson, Tory Burch, Rachel Roy, Monica Botkier and more.  Starting January 28 at 10 pm EST through February 7, these will be auctioned off on eBay with the entire net proceeds directly benefiting CFDA education initiatives and scholarship program.  I'm truly honored and humbled to lend my time and designs to this incredible cause.

Things were so simple between my Edward and Bella friends—but that all might be a little different now that Jacob has made it into the mix. I love a good love story, so I was rooting for Edward, but have you seen those abs?!
