After all the anticipation, the big day of my first-ever runway show is finally here and just about to start this minute! I’m at my very own tent show at Bryant Park and everything looks absolutely unbelievable. The crowd is chic, the models are the embodiment of perfection, and I cannot wait to see the couture! Backstage is so the place to be.
The famous park fountain is adorned with over 3,000 pink apples in tribute to my NYC appearance and my name is lit-up in pink. Life as a doll has never been better.
I’ll be live-blogging the whole thing right here, covering the outfits just as soon as they strut down the catwalk, and sharing as much of the moment as I can! With so many talented designers recreating looks from my past, present and future, I’ve never been so excited.
Love,
P.S. Just ran into Bob Mackie backstage! OMG!
Let the Runway Rundown commence:
3:53: Rachel Roy kicks off the show with a modern take on my first swimsuit paired with a trench and the cutest Louboutin pink peep toes, which were created exclusively for this show and will be worn with each outfit! What a perfect start.
3:58: Nicole Miller: Divine! A checked black-and-white oversized men’s shirt-dress paired with white tights and the CL pink strappy heels. So classic.
4:00: Rag and Bone create a blue and grey stewardess chic set with the sweetest pin hat and ascot. I must have this.
4:05: Derek Lam is all about flowered black, white and red elegance.
4:07: Did I mention the Nanette Lepore hot-pink bell dress fit for a retro-chic doll? The black belt and bejeweled cat eye glasses make the outfit!
4:09: Juicy Couture goes naughty! This super-short butterfly print dress requires matching skivvies.
4:10 Kai Kuhne creates a super-structured pink mini-tube dress paired with electric blue long gloves. Simple perfection.
4:11 Chris Benz delivers a beautiful pink full-length dress with a matching fur scarf meant to be worn piled high!
4:12 Trina Turk: What a classic. Hot pink mid-length pea coat with cream leather car gloves and the perfect pink CL heels. Cute without being too matchy.
4:13 Kenneth Cole: OMG! Ken! The lovely model walking with him is looking gourg’ in tight black skinny jeans and a “Everybody needs a Ken” shirt. Such a clever idea!(I do think he makes the perfect accessory...)
4:14 Oh Tommy Hilfiger! I LOVE this simple, shiny cream 30s inspired number. Updated to perfection!
4:15 House of Field creates a one shoulder and one leg little number in a tight sliver metallic fabric (you have to see it!). Is one leg the future of fashion?!
4:16 Finale time! Each of the models strut back on stage holding hands with a little Barbie girl. All fifty of the seven- and eight-year-olds wave back to the crowd wearing the cutest Barbie tank and tu-tu ensembles. So sweet!
Whew! What a whirlwind: The backstage is already mayhem of the most wonderful kind. Time to go dole out the kisses and hugs (is that Kenneth Cole I see?). I promise the full report soon!
